We have volunteered for various organizations since our retirement. We have volunteered at DIA (Denver International
Airport) on a regular basis as Ambassadors for the City and County of Denver. (See New Pictures)

As Ambassadors |
We both belong to the San Diego Maritime Museum and volunteer there as needed. Jane, as well as Dick, has
worked on the the 2002 Festival Of Sail and the 2002 Haunted Star. Dick has taken the 2003 docent class and will become a
full-fledged docent upon completion of his oral exam. He has also worked on Maggie Piat's Age Of Steam exhibit with Joe Bompensaro
on the log raft and has built the railroad pier and lent the museum his Shay geared locomotive model and his Dolbier steam
donkey model. He is currently working with Joe Bompensario on the Irene, a four-masted schooner model for the exhibit. He
has also demonstrated the Berkeley triple expansion engine for Bob Allen and has worked in the Medea engine room cleaning
and learning the various oiling and maintenance functions for the engineers. Michael Johnston has used him for various Access
programming duties around the museum.

Docent Molly Alexander at work |
Dick volunteers at the Antique Gas and Steam Engine Museum in Vista CA. His primary interest there is working on Steam
Engine Row. The Museum holds a major show the third and fourth weekends of June and October. All operating steam engines and
boilers are demonstrated at that time. Dick's favorite engines are the large Allis Chalmers Corliss engine, the Ferrar and
Trefts drilling rig engine and the Skinner Unaflow engine. These and other engines are shown on the following slide show.
